How to Increase Website Traffic

You have visitors coming to your site every day but you want them to take some sort of action in an effort to convert them from potential clients to viable customers. You need them to do something; either fill out a form or provide you with some information so that you can bring them to the next level. For this you need to increase website traffic to your website. While it may seem like an easy process to engage in, there are a few simple strategies you can apply to ensure that your visitors know what you want them to do next.

Have a Sign

There is a reason why we use the term to “drive traffic.” Imagine that visitors to your site are on a highway that can take them to millions of places. Driving the traffic to your site is like getting them to take the one off ramp that will lead them directly to your door. The strategies you use will be like the road signs that will drive the traffic to website pages where you can work on nurturing a relationship that could turn them into a customer. You know that everyone on the highway is not going to take your off ramp but if you have no signage telling people what’s there, no one will come. Remember, your signs have to be clear and enticing enough to get them to take the turn off and visit your site.

Where Should They Go?

Having people end up on your website is not enough to turn them into viable leads. Your goal is to start a relationship with them so you can build up their level of trust and confidence in your business. Relationships go two ways, while you’re providing them with valuable insights, useful content, and practical suggestions you also need them to take some action. When driving traffic to your website focus on getting them to your landing pages. The landing pages are pages that require them to take some sort of action. Whether you want them to download an eBook, read your blog, or answer your emails the goal is the same. They must provide you with some information in order to get what they want. When you increase website traffic to your landing pages, you are at the beginning of what could be a beautiful relationship that could last for years.

The Benefits

Once you know how to effectively increase website traffic there are many gains to be had. Aside from building up your conversion rate you’ll definitely find things moving a lot faster. With more visits to your site, you’ll quickly be able to identify which marketing efforts are working and which ones are not. With that information you can make marketing adjustments quickly to improve the effectiveness of your marketing plan overall. Learning how to drive traffic to where you want people to be is one of the most practical steps any marketing manager can do to increase their overall return on investment.
