Calls to Action
A call to action is the first step in the conversion process. Therefore, making it all the more important to make a great impression on your visitor. Typically, a call to action is a button that will prompt a website visitor to take action on an offer. The button will direct the visitor to a landing page where they can download/receive the offer in exchange for some personal information. There are a few best practices to keep in mind while building your CTAs so that you can pull those visitors through your marketing funnel.
Make it Actionable
This is a button that you want people to click! Make sure it is very clear what they need to be doing. Use action words such as; click, download, and join. However it pertains to your offer, make it fool proof. The last thing you want is your visitor to turn away because they are confused on how to get the offer.
Make it Relevant to the offer and Page
When building your CTAs be aware of the keywords you are using. Make sure these words pertain to what the visitor will actually receive. Be clear. You do not want to lose their trust by being misleading in any way. Along with being relevant with your wording, you must be relevant with the pages on which you place your CTAs. Consider if the offer pertains to the content on the page or to those who would visit this page. Having high relevancy will optimize the effectiveness of your CTAs!
Proper Page Placement
Where you place your CTA is just as important as what you put on it. In all possible cases, the best place for a CTA is above the fold of your webpage. This is not always possible, but when it is it will allow for more eyes to see it. The bottom of the page and the right side widget are other great places to put CTAs. This placement allows for maximizing views without interrupting the visitor’s experience.
See What Works
Don’t be afraid to change up your Calls to Action. The goal is to have the most efficient CTAs and by creating new ones, testing them, putting new ones in, see how they work. Measure the clicks, conversions, and compare it to the views in order to decide which is the best suited for the page. Also, it never hurts to use a little eye popping color and attention grabbing graphics! Change colors, font sizes and types, and wording. See what gets the best response from your visitors.
Now you have all of the best practices to building your CTAs. Keep these in mind as you build and test your CTAs. Allow for ample time to test and measure the results from your CTAs and change what is needed. Soon enough you will see those visitors entering into your marketing funnels.
