What are search signals and why are they important?

ranking website on google

Search signals are a tool that allow you to get daily local searches for the specific pages and keywords you are trying to rank on search engines.

Ever since 2006 search engines starting measuring users signals to evaluate the relevance of content and started focusing more on collecting user data to create an algorithm that uses user behavior to determine which websites should be ranking.

That means you can make multiple site updates, create meaningful content, implement SEO efforts and Google will not recognize your hard work if you are not getting the users to your sites. Search signals were created as a solution that allows you to get actual search volume from local devices that prove to Google that people are visiting your site and using it properly.  This in turn improves your sites rankings.

Search Signals use real local searches driven to your core landing page using keywords you are trying to get the page to rank for and it does not use any black hat marketing techniques that can put your site at risk of getting penalized, only true local searches.

How do you use search signals?

You can use search signals to help rank any page on your website.  We recommend using pages that already have some rank traction (spots 11-49) and using search signals to push them onto the first page of google. Another great way to use search signals would be on a net new website that needs some visitor traffic so Google knows your site is starting to attract visitors.

How to set up search signals

Step 1: Login to your Sitepop dashboard

Step 2: Enter the site you want to rank

Step 3: Enter the keywords you want to rank

Step 4: Install our app on 3 local devices

Case Study #1

First column is Google (National) and the second column is Google (Local – MAPS).  This client has been working with us for about six months. This service is their most profitable.  In a week we were able to go from not even trying to rank to every keyword in the #1 spot. The client did more sales in the last 30 days than they did ALL OF LAST YEAR for this service.  You want to talk about a HAPPY CLIENT!

Case Study #2

We’ve worked with this client for five years and have had a bit of trouble on this one location (of the five they have physical buildings in).  We’ve always been on the first page but struggle to get above the national players in the market. After running this tool for a few days we were able to jump into spot #2 for some of the most competitive keywords.

Case Study #3

This was a pure experiment just for fun.  We’ve worked with this client for about three years and they have asked us in the past to rank them for locations up to 50 miles away from them.  Normally we avoid those types of projects but thought we would give this a try. The page we ranked as BRAND NEW and has ZERO LINKS. With this base we’re excited to start doing our normal SEO work to see what we can accomplish.

FAQ’s

Do I have to have a website for this tool to work?

Yes, you should have a website with basic pages.

Do I need to build links to make this work?

No, that is the crazy part we’re getting pages to rank on newer sites with zero links.

Will this work on National Keywords?

It looks like it.  We’re seeing some of our local efforts getting us onto page one nationally.

Is this only for agencies or can I setup my personal business site?

There are subscriptions for everyone.  If you are a single site owner and don’t want to deal with getting your devices setup you can always message us in the Growth Hackers Group and we can talk about setting up a network for you.

Are there any tricks to getting the results you’re showing above?

No real tricks.  We have noticed that it works best with keywords that are already ranking on page 2-4.  Typically that means you have a website, a GMB, and a page with related content on it. You don’t have to have these things but we’re seeing a 100% win rate when you do.

I highly recommend you try this platform: Search Signals from SitePOP
